What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is a cutting-edge regenerative injection treatment used to repair injured ligaments, tendons and joints for people suffering from pain, joint instability and osteoarthritis. Ligaments and tendons generally have a poor blood supply and consequently, incomplete healing is common after an injury. Coupled with frequent use of NSAIDs, ice and cortisone, it is easy to see why chronic pain is so common. Prolotherapy is considered a powerful alternative to surgery and a healthier option to pain medications and anti-inflammatory injections such as cortisone or other steroidal medicine. The revolutionary treatment is minimally invasive and is affordable to boot, allowing you to return to your active lifestyle quickly and safely.

How does it work?

How does it work? Dextrose Prolotherapy involves injecting dextrose with an anesthetic into a damaged area, usually a ligament, tendon or joint. This solution causes a local, mild irritation initiating an inflammatory response that “turns on” the body’s powerful healing process. This procedure stimulates the growth of new ligament, tendon and cartilage in the damaged area. The ligaments and tendons produced after prolotherapy appear much the same as normal tissues, except they are thicker and stronger due to the new and ongoing creation of tissue. This new stronger and healthier tissue provides you with a more stable joint, a correction from past pain and discomfort.

What are Platelet-rich Plasma Treatments?

platelets

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a regenerative injection treatment designed to stimulate the body’s natural healing. PRP is defined as autologous blood with concentrations of platelets above baseline levels, which contains at least seven growth factors.

Platelet Rich Plasma Prolotherapy (PRP) is very useful and effective in healing severe labral and meniscal (knee) tears, chronic osteoarthritis of the knee and even avascular necrosis of the hip.

PRP begins with  drawing some of the patient’s blood and processing it through the use of a high speed centrifuge. Then using the growth factors in the blood to promote healing and pain relief in the affected area.

Spark now offers PRP treatments to our regenerative medicine services. For more information about  PRP treatments and procedures contact us at 760 810 4104.

Regenerative Medicine. Data Outcome Study!

Our study is complete and the data is in! Using Amniotic Membrane Allograft treatments our patients have experienced an average of 53% improvement in mobility and pain relief after 12 weeks, 65% after 6 months and over 70%* after 1 year. Don’t risk invasive surgery – sign up for a free consultation to see if you are a candidate.

(Study data based on knee treatments. 1-year outcome is still in progress but early results are showing over 70% improvement in both mobility and pain relief! All results based on patient reported outcomes.)

The FACTS On Regenerative Medicine Vs. Surgery

Invasive Or Non Invasive?

Have you been diagnosed with bone on bone osteoarthritis? Here are two of the major treatment options available. One is invasive and one non-invasive.

Testimonials

It’s been 5 and a half months. I’m doing well. My knees are pain free, the swelling is gone in both knees. There’s still a little fluid in the left knee, but that’ll go away with time. The spacing of the bones are fine and the cartilage is looking good. I’m doing well, I’m working out at the gym three days a week and my trainer is slowly getting me back into lower body exercises to accommodate the buildup of strength in my legs.

I Am Looking Forward To Getting My Life Back

X-rays and a MRI showed me to be bone-on-bone, and I had received a steroid injection – without any relief. It was difficult to walk up and down stairs and walk on uneven ground. Within 6 weeks, a sonogram showed space between the leg bones and it was more comfortable for me to walk and do stairs. I returned almost 8 months later for a follow-up – another sonogram showed still more space.

I am very happy that I made the decision

Dr. Kasendorf is absolutely incredible. After reviewing my case, he explained to me what the issues were and how stem cell treatments are helpful. Despite already reviewing my x-rays, he performed a diagnostic ultrasound at no extra charge! I am pleased to write that I am completely better (only 3 months after injection). I am thrilled that I was able to avoid surgery. Thank you Dr. Kasendorf and staff.
